Jon's Birthday Weekend
Re-cap of Sunday, March 19th

Another week is in the books. Last year we enthusiastically discussed Jon's retirement and 60th birthday party plans for March 17th, 2023. Turns out, I'm not the only person who plans a birthday party and nobody shows up. Jon's friend canceled at the last minute and he decided not to retire until April 14th. So, just a ho-hum birthday party. Unlike my plans for my 60th birthday party. I have Mandalay Bay holding 30 rooms for my friends to join me on June 25th, 2023. This birthday surely won't disappoint. I can't hardly wait!
Let's get back to golfing results. Big 9th hole for Bobby, Dave, Deb and KC. They won the skins pot, collecting $20 each. No bad. Hill Top was the scene and the weather was surprisingly nice. Several of us took advantage of the location and headed to Chili's for lunch, then a drink at Orange Blossom. FYI: not real ice cream in their mudslides. But fun times.
The big winners this week were Wayne, Andrea, Sue B and Sam. This crazy 4 some posted a day high of 43 points. Coming in a close second, the team of D1, #5, Mark F and Pam, who definitely was the best looking 4 some of the day, netted a 42. With D1 and #5 in Red, it was a beautiful day. (Although, #5 wore a white t-shirt most of the round). We had a tie for 3rd place with 2.5, Lonny, Mira and Sue R gathering 35 points. 2.5 was quoted as saying, "Not bad for 3 women playing." Lonny, by his own evaluation, didn't play up to the standard his sets for himself each and every week. Mira bought wings, so again, we love her. Tying the 3 women and a baby, were the 3 some of birthday party bust, Jon, Dennis and Julie. They also managed to score 35 points.
The big money winners of Bob, KC, Dave and Deb, getting the only birdie on #9 and cashing in on $80 dollars, posted a respectable score of 33. Please check out Deb and Dave's segment on water volleyball on the popular YouTube channel, Lanai Gossip. Please subscribe. Then we have the fun group of Vicki, Mark M, Harry and Jill. Lost ball Harry, took the special ball and plunked in in the water on hole number 4. A 121 yard shot. This created a minus 5 for this fun 4 some. They came in with a respectable 32, but with the minus 5, scored a 27. Harry is tied with#5 for the most lost special balls, with 2.
Finally, the Captain's Cup Challenge paired the Crusher's Carmen and Phil verses the Destroyers, Dean and Dodi. In the very popular scotch doubles format, Carmen and Phil outlasted Dean and Dodi, 32 to 15.
Afterwards, many stayed for a refreshing adult beverage at the beautiful Orange Blossom outdoor bar. Everyone had a fun time. Remember, someday this will end. Enjoy the moments we have together. Let's keep Sunday's as Fundays. Enjoy.
